CONSULTANTS Construction of fresh- produce market Location: Infrastructure markets Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA) Mpumalanga Tenders have been invited for construction of the Mpumalanga International Fresh Produce Market (MIFPM), ancillary buildings, and services in Mpumalanga. The site is located on the R37, approximately 3km outside Mbombela, opposite Riverside Shopping Mall on the northern side. The estimated value is approximately R1.3-billion. MEGA envisages the creation of a modern fresh-produce market, the MIFPM in Mbombela. This will improve food security, create jobs, and develop the nutrition of underprivileged communities. By linking small-scale black farmers with international, regional, and local buyers, MEGA will also help to drive economic growth at provincial and national levels. In this way, the MIFPM will provide farmers with exposure to a much wider regional, national, and, potentially, international market. nn It is intended that part of the proceeds of the financing will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for consulting services for preparation of detailed concept design and bidding documents, including a short period of maintenance. The State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), on behalf of the Sokoto State Government, now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the services. nn Rehabilitation of 500km of roads in Nigeria Infrastructure roads Sokoto State Nigeria Sokoto State in Nigeria has invited tenders for consultancy services for detailed concept design; environmental and social impact assessment; preparation of bidding documents; and procurement support for the rehabilitation of 500km of prioritised rural roads under design and build contracts. The Sokoto State Government has signed an agreement with the World Bank for the construction of the 500km of rural roads across the state. The agreement covers different locations spread across three zones. The Aminu Waziri Tambuwal administration decided to key into the World Bank’s Rural Access Mobility Project so as to improve transport conditions, by opening up rural areas in all parts of the state.
