The Kenyan government has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Eastern Africa Regional Transport, Trade and Development Facilitation Project( EARTTDFP) and intends to apply part of the proceeds to a contract for consulting services for the construction supervision of Lokichar-Loichangamatak Road( Al), 40km along the Eldoret-Juba road corridor. The consulting services include: review of the condition of the site; review of designs and proposals for implementation of the works and review of any other aspect necessary to gain a full and complete appreciation of the project; advising the client regarding such measures and refinements as appropriate for the optimal implementation of the works contract. The services will have a total duration of approximately 44 months, comprising two months for design review, 30 months for construction supervision, and 12 months for supervision during the defects notification period of the works. The works to be supervised include: a) reconstruction of road pavements to attain a 7m carriageway width with 2m shoulders on each side, using materials such as surface dressing, asphalt concrete and / or dense bitumen macadam, graded crushed stone, cement stabilised or cement-improved material and improved subgrade; b) construction of bridges, culverts, and other drainage infrastructure; and c) construction of social and other amenities such as cattle or general-produce markets, small-scale beef processing plants, water supply infrastructure, milk coolers, and others. The estimated input of key professional personnel is 328 person-months. The Kenya National Highways Authority, a state corporation under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, established under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007, hereby invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services.

Rehabilitation of the Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania: The works consist of the design and construction of the rehabilitation of the taxiways and aircraft aprons, construction of a new taxiway, extension of the aircraft apron, removal of rubber from the runway surface, and rehabilitation of the terminal building. There are also plans to convert the 110km 2 area around the airport into a modern duty-free‘ shopping city’ for tourists that would compete with Dubai. It would include shopping centres, tourist hotels, duty-free shops, export processing zones, curio shops, golf courses, and a large game ranch. The total project costs are EUR38.5-million( TZS76-billion).

Kenya Electricity Generating Company( KenGen) wishes to engage a consultant to carry out a detailed examination and study of the brine production from Olkaria I & II power plants. They are required to advise on additional power generation possible from the brine, by use of binary technology, and further advise on the potential chemical, technical, and economic constraints plus options. The successful applicants must have proven technical capabilities and a proven track record in design, operation, and maintenance of geothermal binary power plants of at least 20MW.
