Procedural Conceptual
Housing project Infrastructure – Residential
Eastern Cape Mauritius
Construction of the proposed Arlington Housing Project
on erf 559, Victoria Drive, Walmer, Port Elizabeth, Eastern
Cape, is at the procedural stage. The development will
include 143 dwelling houses and approximately 470
residential units, two sites for open space, and two sites
for business development. The brand new social housing
development being built in Victoria Drive, Walmer, is set
to bring relief to people who work in the area but currently
have to travel great distances from their current homes.
Own Haven Housing Association is building a total of
approximately 630 new flats, ranging from bachelor to
one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. If all goes to plan,
tenants will be able to move into the first 145 flats by 1
November. The housing will be available at an affordable
rate to suit the average income. The project is committed
to providing suitable accommodation for people earning
below R15 000 per month, and potential clients will be
screened during the application process. The premises
will in due course boast a play area for children and
access will be controlled, providing a safe environment.
The client is Africast, and the EIA consultant is
Engineering Advice & Services. Work will proceed from
2019 onwards. Construction of civil and infrastructure services for the
proposed development of 19 villas, Baie du Tombeau,
Mauritius, is at the conceptual stage. The villas intend
to offer the luxury and comfort of a five-star hotel.
This prestigious resort is made up of individual and
private villas, each offering a smart integration of latest
technology with a digital tablet driving all the functions
of the property, such as a unique automatic retractable
roof. A high standard of interior finishes complete the
villas. The architecture is unique, including interior
decoration conceived by expert teams, and a proposed
harmonious combination of quality materials with
seamless lines and technological innovations. Careful
selection of materials, colours, and textures forms the
essence of each space to provide residents with an
unforgettable living experience.
This turnkey project will take place during 2019.

KwaZulu-Natal Western Cape
Tenders have been called for the design of
construction services and infrastructure for phase
1 and phase 2 of Ridge Town Central, which will be
situated in Summer Way Lane in Umhlanga Ridge
Town Centre, on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast. The
development will consist of five apartment blocks,
totalling 267 units and offering one-bedroom, two-
bedroom, and three-bedroom options. Phase 1 will
only consist of residential apartments. Phase 2 will
consist of residential apartments and a small hotel.
This is a modern estate in the heart of an urban
lifestyle, boasting superior finishes, sleek units,
and a prominent position in Umhlanga for on-the-
go, professional individuals. This development
will offer state-of-the-art security, a clubhouse
with a pool and fully equipped gym, as well as an
exclusive hotel element.
The private developer is Trapezoid Investments,
the architect P G A Architects, and the structural
engineer Arup. Beacon Valley Housing on erven 42911 and 42912
in Mitchells Plain is at the tender stage — Tender
23280 for approximately R61-million to R100-
million. The tender includes installation of internal
services for 831 housing opportunities for the
Beacon Valley housing project (Erven 42911 &
42912) in Beacon Valley, Western Cape. The client
is the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality
and the civil engineer is Mott MacDonald Africa.
