Lawet Dance performed for the first time in Widoro Payung Campgrounds on August 31, 1989. After that performances, the development of lawet dance is growing rapidly as it is performed at big events, among others: the HUT RI 46th, 1991 in opening of Porseni SD Kebumen performed by 300 dancers, opening MTQ Student level of Central Java in the square Kebumen 1993, Closing Poseni elementary level of Central Java in 1993, the inauguration of the stadium Candradimuka 1994, opening Porseni elementary level aide governor to Kedu in 1994, the festival Ngunduh Sarang Lawet Bird in TMII 1995, the first winner in the Children Dance Contest 1996 in STSI Surakarta.
But in 2005, the heyday of that dance was stopped. There is no government efforts to revive the dance, the impact is no longer the younger generation know this dance, they only know the name. The Department of Education Youth and Sports Culture and Tourism Ministry also did not have a resource book about the arts. And it turns out that there is no official publication in a book form. This shows a tremendous concern, an irony in a culture that has been duly pursued by all parties, especially the government.
