Isomalt is the most fantastic product to work with. It is a sweetner and not a sugar. It comes in a powder
form that melts very easily and does not require a thermometer when working with it. It can be coloured
and flavoured and used in hundreds of different applications. Follow these simple instructions to make
hard candy flower lollies for spring day.
Hard Candy Flowers for Spring Day
Place isomalt powder in a pot on the stove on medium heat and allow to melt. This will take around 5
minutes. Once melted add your flavouring and colouring. You may use a paste or jel colour though a
water soluble colouring is best. Choose from one of our 32 different flavouring oils to flavour your
isomalt. Oil your mould well with cooking oil. Pour your hot syrup mixture into the mould. Allow to cool at
room temperature for about 30 minutes before unmoulding.
Hard Candy Leaves
Use melted coloured and flavoured isomalt to make
your leaves. Allow the isomalt to cool down very slightly
so that it is slightly thicker. Place a small quantity of
isomalt onto one side of a silicone veining leaf. Place
the second part of the silicone on top of the isomalt and
squeeze together for approximately 30 seconds. Allow
to cool for a further 30 seconds before removing the
silicone veiner.
