Fashion trends: The personal style of PDS students

By Jane Vaughan

Providence Day students share how fashion impacts their everyday lives and how they use style to express their true colors.

Millennials are caught in a storm of social issues, but find excitement in the creativity of modern day fashion. Providence Day is a place where teens are able to push the boundaries of fashion and find a way to promote their innovative styles.

Defining fashion at Providence Day is challenging because each student has his or her own style. Creating personal style is how Providence Day students find the freedom to relieve stress from their busy lives.

“Fashion is a way I can express myself and feel confident in my own body, knowing how I am judged everyday through my actions.” Junior, Charlie Tiberio commented.

Students find an importance in what they wear daily because it is a way of personal identity in a structured lifestyle.

When Charlie Tiberio isn’t busy studying at Providence Day, he spends his free time at the skate park with friends and keeping up with his authentic style.

Tiberio explained how online deals work these days. He elaborated that the main struggle for fashion trends is how much you have to pay to keep them up.

Tiberio earns money from selling out of stock items online. The main brand he shops for is Supreme which is notorious for selling out within minutes. Many choose Supreme to buy based off of the celebrity status it has with stars like Kanye West and Travis Scott.

Norris looks up to supermodels Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski for inspiration and places like pinterest for the latest trends. To her, fashion is a way of expression; she finds it great that her friends make different style choices to be unique.

Norris believes that the new trend this year are star patterns.

“You see them (stars) everywhere because it really makes an outfit” she expressed her favorite fashion items are shoes.

“Fashion is something I am always thinking about, whether it be what I am going to wear tomorrow or someone’s style that inspires me.”

“Style has impacted me in how people perceive me and how I perceive others”

Sophie Norris, a Senior at Providence Day, is known for her fashion statements. She stated that fashion is something she is always thinking about.

She begins her day with deciding what to wear by looking for inspiration in catalogs. Then throughout the day Norris will shop at places like Buffalo Exchange and Urban Outfitters.
