Right now you need to go play outside.’ At least she was consistent!” — Dick Maurer “My mother was a mother of seven children and she loved babies! This is how I always remember her, with a ba- by on her lap! Miss you, mom.” — Judy Brennan “I’m remembering grandma and pa- pa Cole’s (actually my aunt and uncle who I made grandma and papa to my five kids). First house, two rooms... cooked on pot belly stove with wood and the outside water pump, that froze in the winter time. Papa had to build a fire of rags around the pump to thaw it enough to get some water. Then bring it in the house for coffee. Papa started the fire in the room I slept in (sofa) and he would warn me, ‘Kid you stay in bed now till I get this fire warmed up.’ They only had an outhouse out by the gar- den, outside the yard. So we had to pid- dle in the front yard by the step in the morning. Too cold to go to the out- house.” “My wonderful, humorous ma soooo often told me: ‘I love you to death but thank God you weren’t twins!’” — Diane Imel “My mom and I were the early risers in our family. She would fix breakfast and the two of us would sit and talk. A wonderful time of sharing and a great memory now.” — Gary Newbore “The most loving, giving, caring and inspirational person I know, my moth- 789-9881 Tree & Shrub Pruning & Removals Spraying & Deep-Root Fertilization Stump Grinding & More... www.goodnewstree.com COURTESY PHOTO: MOLLY VAN AUSTEN COURTESY PHOTO: LAURIE LAUBENSTEIN er: Alive and vibrant at age 90 this year!” — Todd Johnson “My mother is nearly 91 and she says that she is still finding out about stuff I did when I was in my youth in Amarillo, Texas. Nothing illegal or cru- el, but some were on the line. She still loves me!” — John Meyers — Sally Marta G ood N ews T ree S ervice, Inc. She an- swered with a photo of herself writing on her typewriter.” — Molly Van Austen “My mother had studied at Johns Hopkins Medical School. She taught me how to wash my hands and also lots of other ways to stay disease free. One was, “Keep your hands away from your face.” I think that her medical training went a long way toward keeping the family healthy.” COURTESY PHOTO: NANCY HALL “My mother was a very gentle, kind, and patient person. My best memories of her are how much she loved her grandchildren. She was a teacher so children were in her heart, but people of all ages liked her!! And what a snap- py dresser!” — Nancy Hall “One of my favorite memories of my mom, Darlene, was when we were at a ranch in Montana. She had cancer and was going through treatment. She loved to dance but was too weak so we just chair danced ... so much fun!” — Laurie Laubenstein “Standing on a Fifth Avenue side- walk in the heart of New York, I was eyewitness to the World Trade Center attack. Calling my saintly mother, Pau- line, I heard these words of comfort, ‘No matter what is going on, God is in charge.’ True then, true now.” —Margie Wiesenthal — Ann Jetton See MOTHERS / Page 14 • Panel Changes • Hot tubs • Remodels • Generators • Lighting Additions State of Oregon CCB #194072 503-780-6207 “Single Source Electrical Solutions” 17937 SW McEwan RD Ste 200A Tualatin, OR E-mail: offi [email protected] www.pro-tech-power.com Merged with Lighthouse Electric and continuing with their same great service. 503-582-9600
