THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 21 February 2020 A DOG ETIQUETTE REMINDER FOR RESIDENTS By ANNE SHEVLIN I t’s time again to remind Char- bonneau residents about ac- cepted dog etiquette in our community. Many of us have beloved four-legged friends who make sure we are up and out the door early to accommodate their needs, and get in a little exercise for ourselves as well. Most residents are responsible “hu- man companions” and are mindful of their dog’s activities. Unfortunately, a few residents have been observed let- ting their dogs out of the car or golf cart at Edith Green Park to do their “business” without picking up after the pet. A few others do not practice safe handling of their dogs. This gives all dog owners a bad name. Please be aware of the following practices: Q Dog “waste stations” are conve- niently placed throughout the neigh- borhoods. Please use them. Do not de- posit waste bags in golf course trash cans, restrooms, or your neighbor’s trash can. Please do not take more than four bags from the dispensary at a time. Q Do not let your dog use your neighbors’ lawns to eliminate. Use common areas whenever possible. Q When approaching another per- son or dog-walker while on a walk with your dog, move to the opposite side of the street as a courtesy. If this is not possible, please keep your dog in control. Q Inquire if you may approach a walker with their dog. Many dogs are in training, or do not respond well to strangers and other dogs. Be safe! Q If you are using Edith Green park as an off-leash area for your dog to run, it is imperative that your dog re- sponds to voice commands and is un- der your control. This is a posted re- quirement for the use of the park in this manner. If we all follow a few rules of eti- quette regarding our dogs, we can continue to keep our community beau- tiful and worry-free. Real Estate Today with Lynda Huber Should I Sell My House This Year?
