T
he 14th annual Pink Ball
Tournament Sept. 10 that
supports OHSU’s Knight
Cancer Institute drew in
hundreds of golfers and supporters
wearing pink to honor those who have
battled cancer. Throughout
Charbonneau, yards were decorated
with pink items and though rain
persisted the day of the event, it didn’t
dampen the spirits. Bagpiper George
Coleman opened the event before a
moment of silence was held for all the
tee box signs honoring people who
had died from cancer or those battling

et’s all wish Betty Prakken a very happy 90th
birthday. Betty’s two sons (local and east coast resi-
dents) had a nice celebration for her at the Pioneer
Chapel in Canby. Since Betty earned her private pi-
lots license at age 30, and is a member of the International
99 Club and a member of the Portland Tall Group, she had
plenty of friends to help celebrate her birthday. There were
even some friends of the family that came from her home
town of Boise to surprise her on her special day. Betty has
lived here at Charbonneau for six years and is a member of
the Charbonneau Women’s Association and the ladies sin-
gle group. So when you all see her at the local events please
take a minute to give her a hug and celebrate this upcoming
year with all her friends here at Charbonneau.
