THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 3
November 2019
CCC President’s
Column
By KATHY HARP
Exciting time of the
year for Charbonneau
It has been a
very busy fall for
our CCC Board of
Directors. A Task
Force has formed
to begin to plan
HARP
for our new “Ac-
tivities Center.”
This committee is co-chaired by
Director Anne Shevlin and for-
mer Director Kathy Fuller.
The purpose of the task force is to
move forward with the design and
construction of our new building.
Their first meeting was on Oct. 25.
They have a huge job ahead of them
and will be communicating with our
community on a regular basis as
plans unfold. At our October CCC
Board meeting we voted to increase
monthly dues by $12 for 2020. Includ-
ed in that increase is $10 per month
going directly to our Capital Im-
provement Fund.
We contracted with Alpine
Abatement Associates, Inc. to re-
move and dispose of the asbestos
sheet vinyl flooring in the Annex
building. This took place mid-Oc-
tober. Several first responders
used our building for both de-
structive and non-destructive
training exercises. Organizations
taking advantage of this opportu-
nity were Washington County
SWAT, FBI and TVFR. These
training exercises will be com-
pleted by Nov. 4. Then the demoli-
tion begins immediately with a
preliminary timeline of comple-
tion by Nov. 26, just in time for
Thanksgiving! We have contract-
ed with Elder Demolition for de-
molition and removal of existing
concrete foundations. I will be
working with new Director Gary
Newbore and General Manager
Jim Meierotto to approve supple-
mental costs and/or change or-
ders to any agreements going for-
ward. All amounts so approved
will be reported to the CCC Board
at its next regular meeting.
During the months of
November and December, the
CCC Board has decided to arrive
at monthly meetings 30 minutes
early specifically for the purpose
of listening to community
comments.
Any resident wishing to make a
comment should arrive before
1:30 p.m. sign in, and indicate if
they have a comment. Not
everyone needs to make a
comment; residents may just
want to come and listen.
Depending on how many choose
to comment, we will allow up to
three minutes for each comment.
The CCC Board meeting will then
begin promptly at 2 p.m. The
specific dates for these meetings
are Nov. 5 and Dec. 3.
We have been notified by Joe
Brouillette, president of the
Charbonneau Golf Club, Inc., that
construction on the cover for the
Garden Terrace starts Nov. 1.
There is a target date of
completion of April 1, 2020. Joe
also mentioned that they have
scheduled a meeting with their
valuation firm for a management
opinion discussion.
Once this is completed, we will
begin outlining the details of
combining our two organizations.
Given the current structures
being considered, there will be no
cash investment required by CCC
to complete the transaction. We
will keep everyone informed as
we proceed through these next
few months.
Wishing you all many blessings
this Thanksgiving.
“As we express our gratitude,
we must never forget that the
highest appreciation is not to ut-
ter words, but to live by them.”
—John Fitzgerald Kennedy
