“The heart of a home is a mother.”
Many of us will be recognizing our own
mothers, and being honored ourselves,
May 12 for Mother’s Day. While many
have mothers who are now gone, their
legacy lives on in us and our children.
This past year I have experienced the
joy of a first grandchild. Not only do I
love this new little being, I am thrilled
at being able to observe my daughter in
her role as mother. I relate to her sense
of responsibility, happiness, love and
sometimes challenge. Cheers to all on
Mother’s Day!
At our last CWGA Board Meeting
Terry Borst addressed the issue of tee
times. As a reminder, the sign-up book
always has dates for four weeks out.
Terry noted that those playing nine holes
generally prefer to begin golf at 9 a.m., so
as the season progresses, she will release
the earlier and/or later tee times back to
the golf course for public use.
Our first play day of the season
followed the Welcome Back Breakfast
hosted by the Membership Committee.
Janet Ferguson, Jan Holley and Jean
Czubin welcomed the new members

with a “goodie” bag and a rose, and we
were treated to mimosas and a delicious
breakfast at The Turn. Rain was
forecast, but except for a little drizzle at
the start, it turned out to be a perfect
day for golf. We had a full complement
of players for the scramble.
If you haven’t had your picture taken
for the CWGA Members Directory you
will be contacted to have your photo
taken. Also, once everyone has a red
shirt, we will all gather for a group photo
to replace the old one currently on the
website. It will be on one of the shotgun
dates in May or June. Cathi McLain is
the contact to get your shirt ordered.
Our May 2 Scramble will be followed
by a Mexican-themed luncheon,
organized by our new Social
Committee, chaired by Liz Henry and
Carole Sletta. The theme will be “Sinko
de Putt,” in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Finally, with the many new rules to
navigate, the theme for the season is
“help each other.” If there is a rules
question, be ready to help. ■

Make sure carpet is firmly attached to
every step or remove the carpet and

stairs. In the kitchen, keep items you
use often in cabinets you can reach
easily without using a step stool.
