Our volunteers are
here to help you
Well June is the
halfway mark of
2019... That’s a scary
thought! I always
worry if I’m keeping
and Communications. We are
extremely happy to welcome these
candidates to the CCC Board.
Whenever new members are
elected, other members are retiring
from the CCC Board. Tony Holt and
Kathy Fuller have both worked
tirelessly for our community over the
past years. Fuller headed up our
House Committee which was charged
with the task of overseeing the
operation and use of our clubhouse.
She worked on the clubhouse
renovation, which included new
carpeting, new draperies, painting,
new upholstery on our chairs and
renovating the Charbonneau logo on
our fireplace, just to name a few. In
addition, she has been very involved
in the quest for more activity space
and served as CCC Board secretary.
Holt was first elected to the CCC
Board 14 years ago. His first term was
2005-2011. In 2013, he was elected
again. During these years, Tony took
on the important and time-consuming
task of heading up the Charbonneau
Civic Affairs Committee. Holt was at the forefront of the efforts to protect
our quality of life from the
encroachment of industrial
development on Charbonneau’s
border. He attended countless
regional and state meetings, wrote
numerous correspondence and
editorials and testified in front of
committees and commissions, all in
his commitment to safeguard this
community. Holt became the CCC
Board president in 2015 and continued
as president until February of this
year. At that time he stepped down
due to health issues. It has been an
honor for me to serve alongside these
two dedicated community leaders
these past years.
I hope you took time to read the
FAQ sheet that was sent out by the
Community Outreach Task Force a
few weeks ago. We followed that
mailing with a survey sent to all
community members. This survey
can also be taken online on the front
page of our website under the
heading “Facilities Improvement
Project.” Since my deadline for this article is early in May, I do not have
any results for you at this writing.

Your input is important.
We have made some progress with
our talks with Charbonneau Golf
Course, Inc. We recently met with
attorneys from both organizations
and began forming a plan to combine
the nonprofit CCC with the for-profit
Charbonneau Golf Course, Inc. We
will continue to keep you posted in
the months ahead. We feel we are all
working as a TEAM and together our
common goal is a healthy and vibrant
golf course, which benefits our entire
community.
I would like to end with a quote
from the Rev. Billy Graham. “A good
father is one of the most unsung,
unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of
the most valuable assets in our
society.” Wishing all the wonderful
fathers in Charbonneau a very happy
Father’s Day. ■
up with the times, accomplishing
what I set out to do, and trying to
remember to smell the roses. Our
household kind of came to an
abrupt stop this spring and we
learned things we didn’t
necessarily start out to do.
However, we are richer for it and
for some reason or other, the dust
bunnies, an occasional weed or
dirty dishes don’t seem to be as
important as I used to think they
were! We understand extended
pain more than we ever knew
before. We know what it’s like to spend four days out of five visiting
doctors. It’s very clear to me just
how important the Sunshine
Service is to the residents of
Charbonneau. We are family when
push comes to shove.
We’ve got things in our storage
closet that you wouldn’t believe!
Certain things we have plenty in
stock, other things are more limited
for use. Our goal is to have state-of-
the-art equipment available for
your needs. Hip or knee
replacements require different
items, for instance. Recovery goes so much faster when you are
comfortable! Please remember that
we are listed in your Charbonneau
directory and if the first volunteer
on the list doesn’t answer, just
move on to the next name... We
can’t all be gone at the same time.
We jump for joy when you return
items in good shape and don’t need
reminding. Somebody could be
waiting for the exact item you may
have borrowed. Thanks again for
your continued support. I speak for
ALL the volunteers when I say it’s
our pleasure to help you. ■
