14 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER June 2019 Charbonneau Community Forum returns June 12 By LEONARD ZUCKER FOR THE VILLAGER Each year this program gains the highest attendance of our presentations. Typically, 100 to 150 residents attend, so reserving a table is very good idea. The topics covered will include traffic congestion, airport expansion, traffic, noise, real estate values, land use planning, growth of Wilsonville, more traffic, Clackamas County issues and more. Want to know why we are sitting on I-5? Is all of this growth necessary? Will jumbo jets land at the airport? What is the Community Engagement Task Force and just what are they doing in the Village Center and how much may it cost? You want answers? Come and ask the people who can answer your questions. Our panel of speakers will include: City of Wilsonville Mayor Tim Knapp, Clackamas County Commission Chair Jim Bernard, Clackamas County Commissioner Ken Humbertson, a speaker from the Charbonneau Golf Club Representative, Real Estate Consultant Lynda Huber Marshall of Equity Oregon Real Estate and CCC General Manager Jim Meierotto. Our stated goal is to provide information and views that impact the lives of our residents and their families in our community. The Charbonneau Community Forum was started by a group of resi-dents that wanted a place where important topics of the day could be discussed. We all need more information on most topics and we invite experts to share their information and views. From the beginning, our intention was to provide a service to our Charbonneau community, to be informative and to remain nonpartisan. Over the years, we have given programs on the concerns about aging, the right to vote, environ- mental issues and many others. This year we have included a presentation about the proposed Village Center Expansion. The project, if it goes forward, might cost between $3-5 million. Your input is necessary, as what you say will influence the final decision. Social time starts at 6 p.m. in the country club dining room. Join us for a glass of wine, other beverages and snacks. Speaker presentations start at 6:30 p.m. There will be a question and answer period starting at 8:30 p.m. We try to end each forum by 9 p.m. We have many new homeowners in Charbonneau to whom we extend an invitation to the forum to meet your neighbors and learn more about your community. For more information or to reserve a table, call Len Zucker at 503-694-5843. In addition, please circle July 9, 2019 on your calendar. The forum’s second presentation will deal with the subject of dementia and Alzheimers. We will focus mainly on the impact on families and friends as well as the individual. Many of us are not equipped to deal with this disease nor the rising cost of care, which creates additional stress, anger and pain. The largest cause of bankruptcy is health care. Knowing what you can do is more important than knowing what you cannot do. This disease can have a major impact on your lives. But you do not have to do it alone. There are counseling and support groups. Early diagnosis can help mitigate certain forms of this disease and in some cases even slow or reverse symptoms. Being prepared will save you time, pain and money. More program information and a list of speakers will be available next month. ■ Meet the New CCC Board of Directors Market Action Index Wilsonville, OR The Market Action Index answers the question "How's the Market?"
