4 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER CCC Activities By KIM HOSFORD Let the holiday festivities begin Charbonneau Sharing Begins Dec. 1 The holiday season brings thoughts of home and family. Many of us have been blessed and look for ways we can give back to the community. Would you be willing to donate clothing or toys to families in need? We will be working with Toy & Joy/Compassion in Action Clackamas County (CIACC) again this year. They will distribute the items we donate to many deserving Wilsonville children and families. It is so easy to participate! Here is what you do, beginning in December: ■ Bring a toy or article of clothing, unwrapped, to the Country Club during business hours ■ Do this between Dec. 1 and Dec. 16. We will load the collected items and deliver them to the collection site. Charbonneau is a very generous, caring neighborhood and we are looking forward to spreading some more of that Charbonneau spirit to the greater community. Christmas lights in the garden Enjoy an immersive holiday event based on a traditional European-style Christmas Market, where you can experience the December 2019 sights, sounds and smells of the season. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the event. Stroll through the forest and one million lights, while sipping a warm, spicy gluhwein. Explore the market vendors and find the perfect Christmas gift. Enjoy music from choirs and cozy up to a wood-burning fire pit. Those more adventurous will enjoy ice skating or snowless tubing, while the rest of the crew watches from the comfort of our fully- covered, heated tents. This event is designed for friends to linger, enjoy time together and experience the traditions that make this time of year so special. There will be heaters and fire pits located throughout the event, where folks can stop and warm up. Even so, it is highly recommended that participants dress in layers for the weather. We will gather at the Country Club on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m., where a deluxe motor coach will pick us up and take us to Willamette Valley Country Club for appetizers. Then, after our social hour, we will be delivered to Silverton’s Oregon Garden. We will enjoy the lights and festivities until our motor coach departs around 8 p.m. to return to Charbonneau. Purchase your tickets in the CCC office for $35. Space is limited so be sure to purchase your tickets early. beginning in November we all will have a wonderful place for this at the Charbonneau Country Club. Everyone will bring their own project, materials and supplies to work on in the companionship of others that share similar interests. It will be exciting to see what everyone does and see all the possible types of fiber art created by women with all skill levels. Whether you embroider, any type of threaded needle work, bead in any application, use fabric in any of its many ways, knit, crochet.... you get the idea. There will not be group projects, no materials will be provided. You just bring your own thing, and work on it in a good place along with others. (Note: The club does not allow paint or glitter.) This group will be drop-in, if you can be there, come. If you can’t, we hope to see you next time. No sign- up. To begin, we will meet Fridays on Nov. 15, Dec. 20, and Jan. 17, from 1-3 p.m. After that we’ll see what the group wants, the club space being available. If you need more info or encouragement to be there, email me, Joanne at [email protected]. I would really like to see you there! Invite other Charbonneau women who may have an interest in this group. Just come and help make this a good place to gather and enjoy working together. Come try it, see if it works for you!
