THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 3 December 2019 Newly elected board member looks to tackle key issues like Aurora Airport expansion Real Estate Today with Lynda Huber By CLARA HOWELL W hen Gary Newbore moved to Charbon- neau a year and a half ago with his wife, Ellen, he wanted to volunteer somewhere meaningful. The Charbonneau Country Club Board was a place he felt he could have an impact and “seemed to fit the bill.” “There’s a lot of issues in front of the board right now that hopefully I can help resolve,” Newbore said. Newbore replaced Kamran Mesbah, whose term expires in 2020, on the CCC Board. Newbore plans to tackle what he sees as key issues: the Auro- ra Airport and Charbonneau Golf Course. “The big one that could have a real negative impact on the quality of life here is the airport expansion. I hope we can stop that dead in its tracks,” Newbore said. “Of course the other two biggies which are cost items are the new clubhouse and the potential merger of CCC and CGC.” Newbore spent 14 years managing a hazardous waste remediation con- struction company, where the com- pany cleaned up scores of superfund sites and military bases. He also managed divisions of nationwide en- gineering companies. “I’ve bid several construction and engineering jobs, I’ve negotiated sev- eral engineering and construction contracts and I’ve managed several engineering and construction proj- ects, all of which I think would be helpful in working with the new club- house,” Newbore said. When the Annex is torn down at the end of the year, an additional ac- tivities center will be built in that ar- ea to service more residents and ac- tivities at the CCC. Newbore moved to Charbonneau because he enjoyed the beauty of the area and wanted to improve his so- cial life. “With the clubhouse here and the social activities it provided, it seemed like a good community to do that in,” Newbore said. “And thirdly, at some point in our life, probably either my wife or I — probably me — will need the services of SpringRidge and it’s right on the grounds here.” Newbore retired in 2007 from URS Corporation, a nationwide engineer- ing company, and said he is excited to have the opportunity to become more involved with the Charbonneau community and resolve issues that have been talked about for the last 20 years. Though Newbore is not currently involved with any clubs at the CCC, he occasionally plays Pitch and Du- plicate Bridge with Charbonneau residents, and plans to play more golf next year. “I look forward to serving the com- munity,” Newbore said. all those things that make this time of year so memorable and meaningful, so beautiful and bright. 16825 SW Boones Ferry Rd.
