2 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER December 2019 CCC President’s Column By KATHY HARP Board pledges to keep residents informed in timely manner For several months now we have had some challeng- ing statements from a few of our residents. We have tried HARP our best to meet with them and explain the documents governing an HOA — yes, CCC is an HOA — the mas- ter HOA for the Charbonneau community. Many people do not realize this. Regarding those residents challeng- ing some of the CCC Board decisions, some have met with us, some have refused. Some have listened, some have not. I want to personally thank each of the present and past board members who have reached out to those members of our community who have raised questions. At our November CCC Board meeting we left papers on the chairs of those at- tending, stating that several Board members would be willing to meet in small groups to discuss the issues presented to our board. Two people left their name. There were several hundred people attending that meet- ing. We are also setting up evening fireside discussions for those who work during the day. We have set a Board goal of up- dating our website regularly with important information, along with more frequent email blasts, to keep our community informed in a more timely manner. The majori- ty of Charbonneau residents who responded to our survey listed The Villager as their No. 1 source of information. However, The Vil- lager only comes out once a month and articles submitted are written weeks ahead. So, please take a look at our website often, new information will be added much more frequently. The CCC Board in 2007 —12 years ago — began a plan of set- ting funds aside specifically for new capital improvement efforts. They also looked at previous out- reach activities and surveys that spanned decades. They knew that the community supported an ex- pansion effort. It was their pre- planning and vision which al- lowed us to pay cash for the An- nex building in 2018. Our recent survey (results can be found at CORRECTION In the November issue of the Villager, Chris Bensel’s name was incorrectly attributed to an article about the Aurora Airport. Bruce Bennett was the author of “The Aurora Airport ‘expansion.’” The Villager apologizes for the error. our website) clearly supports moving forward with the new building and mentions the Golf Course as a main priority. We asked for input, it was given and with this support from our resi- dents, we made the decision to support a previousboard’s deci- sion and proceed with our new Activities Center. A task force formed consisting of board mem- bers and residents. They are ex- cited to make plans for our com- munity to make it the best it can be for the future. We will be ask- ing our entire community for in- put on what will go into that building. We plan to have sever- al designs, which will include costs, available for our residents to view. Exciting times are ahead and I truly hope you will all take the time to participate in this im- portant building decision. More information on this will be sent out in the months ahead. The CCC Board will once again arrive 30 minutes early (1:30 p.m.) at the Dec. 3 board meeting specifically to allow for resident comments. We are ask- ing that those who spoke in No- vember allow others to speak in December. The board meeting will then begin at 2 p.m. All Charbonneau residents are wel- come to attend our meetings. ‘Tis the season to wish each other joy, and love, and peace. Merry Christmas.
