for Pink
Ball
August 2019
By DANA RICHMOND
Tuesday, Sept. 10, is the
date for the 2019 Charbon-
neau Pink Ball. Once again,
we have an opportunity to
play a major part in helping
to raise funds for the Knight
Cancer Institute at OHSU.
Last year, wine and beer
sales alone raised almost
$10,000 toward the final Pink
Ball donation of over $47,000!
Wine and beer donations
Please make all donations by
Sept. 1. Donated wine and beer
are sold by the glass. “Special”

More donations mean more dol-
lars toward cancer research
and we need your help. So, as
we ask every year, we would
like you to donate two bottles
of good wine (that you would
drink). Even easier, you can do-
nate $15 (or more) in a check to
Ron Leeper who will purchase
wine directly from the distribu-
tor at wholesale prices. More
expensive wine has been an ex-
tremely successful item at our
silent and oral auction. If you
have a “special” bottle of wine,
or better yet, a case, please call
Mary Fieweger at 503-519-4388.

Here’s how to donate
■ Take $15 or more by Sept.
1 to Ron or Leslie Leeper at
31555 S.W. Arbor Glen Loop,
694-6163, and he will shop to get
some great wine at wholesale
discounts.
■ To donate two or more of
your own bottles of wine,
please bring them to Bob and
Elaine Junta by Sept. 1 at 32675
S.W. Lake Point Court, 503 694-
2888 (leave in courtyard with
your name if they’re not home).
■ In addition, we need three
was funding for the preparatory
work required to apply for the “real
money” that will be necessary to do
the actual work on the Boone
Bridge and on the southbound auxil-
iary lane that most Charbonneau
residents would like to see. That
money, of course, was not appropri-
ated, but in this kind of process it is
cases of beer, preferably Coro-
na, Corona Light, Belgium
White or IPA. Please bring that
as well to the Junta’s before
Sept. 1.
This is the only major cancer
fundraiser in Charbonneau and
a huge opportunity for us to
help with local cancer research.
All donations that you make
are greatly appreciated. Thank
you so much for helping to
make this fundraiser a success
in the past.
Let’s make this a record year
again for the Charbonneau

necessary to take one step at a time,
so we can certainly consider this a
significant success. And while we’re
at it, let’s thank Sen. Alan Olsen
who submitted the successful bill
and Rep. Courtney Neron, who
amended it to our advantage.
Both played key roles in our suc-
cess.
