About our models this year This year our models will be the following local celebrities. Here are some interesting tidbits about five of our models, the other five ladies will be featured in the May edition: LINDY ANDERSON Why I moved to Charbonneau: Our friends Ron & Leslie Leeper lived in Charbonneau and we loved visiting the area so after retirement in 2005 we decided to move here. COURTESY PHOTO How my life has changed since moving to Charbonneau: Charbonneau is a cruise ship on ground and I am enjoying all that Charbonneau has to offer including a fabulous new set of friends who have become family to me. Interesting fact(s) about me: I am a mother of three, proud Gaga (grandmother) of seven, a quilter, a Mahjong fanatic, a new bridge player and love to be social and organize social events. I have been a member of the Charbonneau Country Club board for 12 years — with one year off between terms — and now serve as treasurer.  My profession before: I started working at the Mallory Hotel as a secretary in Portland in 1965 — the day after high school graduation — and became general manager in 1980 and held that position until retirement in 2004 when the hotel sold. I loved my job for all of the 39 years I worked there. After retirement I missed interaction with people so much that I went to work at the Charbonneau Pro Shop where I do tournaments and weddings. Life is good! CINDY DiCENZO Why I moved to Charbonneau: My husband and I moved to Charbonneau from Portland to be closer to our two grandchildren who live in Aurora with our daughter and son-in-law. How my life has changed since moving to Charbonneau: We've met wonderful people and the lifestyle is completely different than living in Portland. I'm learning to play golf and Mahjong. We love walking on quiet streets here.   Interesting fact(s) about me: My husband and I love to go snorkeling along the many reefs around the world. We've been to Belize, Tahiti, Roatan Honduras, and different islands in the Caribbean and Bahamas.  My profession before: I retired from Portland Public Schools five years ago teaching elementary education. My last 18 years I taught kindergarten.  ROBIN GOWDY Why I moved to Charbonneau: Looking for a closer-knit community. How my life has changed since moving to Charbonneau: I love having close neighbors and have been able to engage in more activities that I enjoy. Interesting fact(s) about me: I raised five kids and managed to survive. My profession before: CFO of my husband's company and homemaker. LEE HARKER Why I moved to Charbonneau: My best friend moved here and my husband and I came here to visit them (Anne and Bill Shevlin). When we drove in on French Prairie, we fell in love with Charbonneau. How my life has changed since moving to Charbonneau? I now have a fun and busy social life and my husband and I have new friends as a couple. Interesting fact(s) about me: I love to read science fiction and fantasy books. My profession before: I was a neonatologist, taking care of sick and premature babies in the hospital. I retired in August of 2017. GERRI GORNEY Why I moved to Charbonneau: I moved from California to Oregon in order to be closer to my daughter and grandchildren. I moved to Charbonneau because the area and ambiance satisfies my need for serenity, security and being in a close-knit community. Also, my daughter lives just up the street from me on Country View Lane, an added blessing. How my life has changed since moving to Charbonneau: (1) I am now almost four years older than when I bought my home here, so that in and of itself is a big deal; (2) I am gradually learning to live without my late husband, thanks to my wonderful neighbors who are caring and protective; and (3) with the advice and help from my knowledgeable and industrious neighbors, I am learning to seriously garden.      Interesting fact(s) about me: I have had the good fortune of visiting six of our planet's seven continents and 59 countries, plus 28 states in our own wonderful country. I love the abundance of water in Oregon and the beauty of the state. My profession before: (1) Owning my own interior design business; (2) executive assistance/office management, and (3) document editing upon retirement from the formal workplace.  ■
