BURGUNDY: OFF THE BEATEN TRACK
Finding value can sometimes be as easy as looking outside of the box. In this case, that box is the Côte d’ Or and sometimes we may even look past Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. There are many amazing wines when one looks outside the lesser-known areas. It is a great place to start your love affair with Burgundy and its many personalities.
Domaine Naudin-Ferrand 2007 Aligoté AC Bourgogne is bright and fresh with orange peel and granny smith apple, and is great served as an aperitif. $ 22.99
Jean-Marc Brocard 2007 Sainte Claire AC Chablis is a classic Chablis with mineral notes and fresh white flowers, a perfect pairing for poached salmon. $ 28.99
Clos de la Roillette 2007 AC Fleurie is a Cru Beaujolais that packs as much punch as a very good Village Burgundy. It is made with the Gamay grape, but in a Pinot Noir style. $ 29.99
Domaine Davanture 2006 AC Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise comes from south of the Côte d ' Or. This Pinot Noir is one of the best values of Burgundian Pinot. A little lighter and fresher, but a great starting place for the reds of Burgundy. $ 25.99
