Softball Team Has Stellar Season

The St. Johnsbury School softball team has had a great season this year. We’ ve won seven games and only lost one.
Our team is coached by Mrs. Thompson, who has played softball her whole life. She pushes the team to a whole new level, but makes sure it’ s still fun as softball should be. There is a mix of 6 th-8 th graders on the team, and the softball connection brought us a little closer together.
We lost our first game 20-3 to Haverill, but we rebounded to beat them at their field. And we had an intense game against Oxbow. We were down by eight runs, but came back and scored a bunch of runs in the fifth and sixth innings, and ended up beating them by four!
It has been a great season, all around.

Do you like swimming? How about having fun and making great friends? If you answered“ yes,” then you should join the St. Johnsbury Academy Swim Club( SJSC)!
The SJSC team is for swimmers age 6-19 who live around St. Johnsbury. We practice three times a week during preseason( September and October), and three to five days a week during the winter season( November-February), at the St. Johnsbury Academy pool. We learn the right way to swim all four strokes- freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly- and how to do flip turns and dive off the blocks. We also get to do fun team activities like relay races.
One big reason why you should join SJSC is because of the great coaches who support you a lot.“ We’ ve established a strong foundation for swimmers to compete at a higher level in the USA Swimming community in New England,” says head coach Brennan Dean, a great swimmer and an awesome coach.
“ By providing a safe environment and culture, we have seen the team grow in numbers and skill level,” says
Dean.“ In the end, we are not just providing the community with a service, but hopefully teaching these swimmers life lessons that will help them grow later in life. There is no greater joy as a coach than to see a pair of goggles look up at me and ask,‘ How did I do?’ These kids are truly inspirational.”
Another reason to join the swim club is that there are great opportunities to practice swimming and to meet other swimmers. Swim meets are a good example of this, and are a fun way to compete with other teams.
The SJSC team is a supportive group of people who share a passion for swimming and are always there to make you smile and give you encouragement.
