Packs on Backs

Sofia Fleming

Why it matters

Teens on Orcas Island are not given the opportunity to fully appreciate their natural surroundings. Living on an island, it is easy to feel limited by the area we have here. But you don’t need to drive 5,000 miles to spend a few nights in the woods. The natural resources on this little 57 square mile rock are amazing, just often overlooked as “tourist activities”....My goal is to help teens gain the skills they need to feel comfortable in outdoor settings and take advantage of our amazing surroundings.
