Many Stars, One Vision
Kick-off Event
September 18, 2010
The Powells’ beautiful home, the Alta Mesa
Ranch, was a magical setting that welcomed
approximately 300 people amid the rolling
hills of Belton, Texas. Mr. McCoy’s wife,
Rachel, emceed the evening’s activities,
which included an auction that fired up
guests’ competitive and generous spirits. A
poignant performance by the UMHB
Conservatory Children’s Choir and the
Central Texas Christian School Children’s
Choir was a highlight, and heartwarming
patient videos drew applause for the new
children’s hospital to come. The evening
raised approximately $250,000 for the new
Children’s Hospital at Scott & White. ■

The spectacular home of James and Kim
Fikes in Moody, Texas, was the site of an
elegant affair that debuted the Temple Civic
Theatre’s opening season performance of
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical
Some Enchanted Evening. Gift boxes gave
guests an opportunity to purchase symbolic
gifts representing much-needed child-sized
equipment to outfit a trauma room in the
new children’s hospital. Ellen and James
Brien, Janice Wilson, and Sharon Wilson
co-hosted the event, which raised more
than $150,000 for pediatric trauma
equipment. ■
