Many of the programs and partnerships that have taken months—even years—to plan are now becoming a reality. It’s true that more people have easier access to specialty care at Scott & White locations that are close to home. We’re so pleased to announce our new partnership with the Hillcrest Health System and to introduce caregivers to you throughout our system of care who are making a real difference in patients’ lives. Some of them include Dr. Dudley Baker, Dr. Thomas Wincek and Dr. José Pliego. Also, leaders at the Scott & White Eye Institute, Sleep Center and other specialty care areas continue to push clinical and academic boundaries to better serve our patients. A system of care cannot be successful without support from individuals and corporations. We are equal partners in our combined success. Unique Pharmaceuticals, Ltd., is a wonderful example of how a partnership can yield benefits to patients that go beyond present-day realities. It has the potential to positively affect the future. In this issue, we highlight how this local organization is making great things happen for some of the most vulnerable among us, babies at risk of being born prematurely. If you have a story about how Scott & White has made an impact on your life, I hope you’ll share it with us. ALFRED B. KNIGHT, MD President and CEO, Scott & White Healthcare Wayne Fisher Morris E.
