Q: What are you hoping to raise funds for now? A: Our goal is to fund an additional, specially equipped ambulance, affectionately known as “Little Brother.” The current ambulance is a traveling hospital and needs “Little Brother” to help carry the load. This past year, the hospital had 106,000 ER visits; 111,000 radiology exams; 21,000 surgeries; and discharged 18,000 patients. McLane Children’s is the only pediatric-specific Level II Trauma Center in Central Texas. We want to be able to respond to every call, every child in need. Q: Can you tell us a little bit about the big event you’re working on? A: Yes, this party is so much fun! The Visionaries hosts “Boots and Bandanas” every other year. This year’s event is Saturday, May 20th at Schoepf’s Bar- B-Que in Belton. We have two country bands this year, John Conley and The Bellamy Brothers. This will be our third event, and I am thrilled to say it gets bigger and better every year! The Visionaries’ next event will be & V ISIONA R IES Boots Bandanas Saturday, May 20 Schoepf’s Bar-B-Que in Belton Call Marcine Chambers at 254-724-1885 for more information. Q: Do you intend to keep up your good work? A: Yes I do! I had my 87th birthday last October. What I do is so fulfilling, and since the Lord has passed me over twice, maybe this is what I am expected to do. I would not dare to question God! sw.org | Spring 17 THE CATALYST 31
