Office of Development Update What an amazing year for Scott & White and the Office of Development! This year we’ve achieved remarkable success, thanks to the generosity of individual donors, corporations, foundations and friends of Scott & White. To date, the Vision Campaign has raised almost $70 million, with $18 million raised in 2008 alone. This past year truly was incredible. In 2008, we brought Phase I of Scott & White’s $100 million Vision Campaign to successful completion. We raised more than $50 million to revitalize the Temple hospital campus, with the opening of the new 636-bed Scott & White Memorial Hospital, including the new Heart and Vascular Institute; the Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center; the Cancer Research Institute; and the 50-bed Continuing Care Hospital. The campaign also helped us open the University Medical Campus Hospital in Round Rock. While we are thrilled with these accomplishments, we also know much more needs to be done. The priorities in Phase II of the campaign seek to expand Scott & White’s footprint in Central Texas and bring specialty care closer to home for more people. They include the construction of the Surgical Sciences Building and the Bone and Joint Institute in Temple; and the Lake of the Hills Regional Medical Center in Marble Falls. Scott & White is focused on empowering people to take charge of their health, by giving them the resources and expertise to do so. To do that, we need philanthropy to help extend our reach, open new locations, acquire advanced technology and advance the field of medicine through research. A vital link in the chain of healthcare delivery, philanthropy has never been more important. Many, many thanks to all of you for seeing the future as promising as we do.
