Scott & White MyChart gives you easy, secure access to your health information MYCHART A patient portal is a web-based program to make patients’ interactions with caregivers easier and their healthcare management more convenient. At Scott & White Healthcare, the patient portal MyChart is proving to be popular with more than 51,000 active patients and 118,000 pending patients already signing up since it launched last June! Round Rock, the first healthcare system region to launch the new tool, experienced a higher than expected enrollment rate, especially among seniors. MyChart will be “live” system wide this summer and is now available in the Temple region, Round Rock, and College Station. MyChart is integrated into the healthcare system’s electronic medical records (EMR) system. It’s a user-friendly tool for patients, and our staff is ready to help you make the best use of it. MyChart allows patients to securely and easily track their laboratory results, make appointments, manage prescription requests, and send e-mails to their doctors any time of day. Patients can monitor immunizations and blood pressure readings and get test results for cholesterol, blood sugar, and more— all without waiting for a follow-up phone call from their physicians’ offices. This is a tremendous timesaver for patients, whether they’re focused on preventing disease or managing a chronic illness. Patients can also view and pay bills on MyChart, and parents can manage their children’s care online as well. Nick Reddy, senior vice president of Information Systems at Scott & White Healthcare, says, “MyChart makes access to healthcare information and completing some tasks more convenient. A strong correlation exists between convenience and better patient engagement, which is one of the ultimate goals of our organization.” Registered users can also download a MyChart application on their mobile device or smart phone. Mr. Reddy explains that, in the future, some patient and physician interactions may be an “e-visit,” an online interaction instead of an in-person office visit, if that’s medically appropriate as determined by your caregiver. “This is the future of healthcare. As more people become more mobile, their healthcare will as well,” he says. Creating a personalized account on MyChart is easy. Ask for your activation code from your doctor’s office. Then go to sw.org/mychart and create an account with a log-in name and password. You can also find more information about MyChart at sw.org/mychart before creating an account.
