COLLABORATION with caregivers and patients to create healthier lives Dr. Brian Ransdell and patient Kathie Dugan at a follow-up visit. SPOTLIGHT ON: Brian Ransdell, MD Dermatologist, Scott & White Specialty Clinic - Marble Falls rian Ransdell, MD, a dermatologist at the Scott & White Specialty Clinic - Marble Falls, definitely makes an impression on patients. “When first meeting him, I was totally blown away. He makes you feel so comfortable,” says patient Kathie Dugan of Marble Falls, Texas. After her first appointment with Dr. Ransdell, Ms. Dugan, a manager at a high-volume B tourist restaurant, was ready to sing his praises. “I went back and I was telling all of the customers about him. That’s how confident I felt about him,” she says. Dr. Ransdell had diagnosed a basal cell carcinoma on her back and guided her through a lengthy recovery period. As a dermatologist, Dr. Ransdell sees a broad range of patients, from newborns to centenarians, from acne to skin cancer. He enjoys the diversity that comes with being a dermatologist. “It’s varied. You might have a person with a rash in one room, the next patient has a blistering disorder, the next patient has bad psoriasis, and the next person has cancer. Every day’s different,” says Dr. Ransdell. Tough on cancer Dr. Ransdell’s specialty, however, is primarily skin cancer. This past August, sw.org | April 14 THE CATALYST 25
