Scott & White Hospital - Round Rock
Fundraising goal: $10 million
The phenomenal growth of the Austin metropolitan area, including Williamson and northern Travis
counties, precipitated the need for a planned expansion of Scott & White Healthcare - Round Rock.
To date, we’ve completed a $36 million, 58,000-square-foot expansion project to meet the growing
demand for patient services. It includes 26 more intensive care unit beds, four new operating suites,
an endoscopy suite, and eight additional emergency room beds. The 68-acre healthcare facility includes
a primary care clinic, maternity services, multiple specialty clinics, and a full-service, 101-bed hospital.
Scott & White Healthcare - Round Rock needs additional expansion, as care increasingly shifts toward
the outpatient environment. Also, we must satisfy the need to care for patients who require more
subspecialty services. Areas of continued expansion include the creation of a cancer center, a cardiac
catheterization lab, and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.
Cancer Center
Enhanced oncology services will
be available at the new state-ofthe-art cancer center, staffed
by multidisciplinary teams of
caregivers who offer innovative
and compassionate treatment
options, including radiation
and chemotherapy.

Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Currently, Scott & White
Hospital - Round Rock has one
catheterization lab that operates at
capacity, with three interventional
cardiologists performing 1,000
procedures per year, but this is not
enough. Another catheterization
lab is needed to help cardiac
specialists diagnose and treat
more patients with symptoms
of heart disease.
Level II Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU)
A four-bed NICU is needed to
take care of our tiniest patients
in Round Rock: infants born
unexpectedly premature or with
a medical condition that requires
a level of care beyond that of a
regular nursery. It gives parents
much peace of mind to know
that highly specialized neonatal
care is available on-site as they
plan for the birth of their child.
Currently, babies who need this
kind of neonatal expertise have
access to the NICU at Scott &
White Memorial Hospital
in Temple.
