Dr . Knight worked closely with his successor , Dr . Robert W . Pryor , 59 , who is the former chief operating officer and chief medical officer ( CMO ) at Scott & White Healthcare , to ensure a smooth transition of leadership .

Knight ’ s accomplishments and the tradition of physician leadership at Scott & White .”
Dr . Pryor is a native of Temple , Texas , and was appointed chief operating officer of Scott & White Healthcare in 2007 . Previously , he served as chief medical officer at St . Joseph ’ s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix , Arizona . He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and holds a master ’ s degree in business administration from Arizona State University .
New Chief Medical Officer :

Dr . Couchman , 57 , previously served as associate system chief medical officer for two years . As system CMO , Dr . Couchman will manage and direct the physician practice throughout the entire Scott & White Healthcare system of hospitals and clinics , with more than 850 physicians and almost 400 advanced practice providers that include physician assistants , nurse practitioners , certified registered nurse anesthetists , and other caregivers .
“ We must continue our focus on the highest-quality care that meets patients ’ needs ,” says Dr . Couchman . A major part of his new role will be to facilitate the continuing growth of Scott & White ’ s practice across Central Texas to better serve patients .
