Young Carer Gateway Advisory Group

The Young Carer Gateway Advisory Group (YCGAG) consists of a group of young carers with lived experience. Through the group, the young carers provide their insight in important decision-making regarding services and policies as part of Carer Gateway.

“The focus of the design is the unbalanced scale. Exhausted-looking me is looking up towards the scale holding the 3 people I care for (one of them is painted fully grey, which represents my dad who passed away). The other scale holds myself sadly looking towards me. Swords are going through my body, representing my chronic pain and the general stress carers go through.

Most of my body is cracked, showing I’m torn and trying to keep myself together. Above my head is fog depicting my struggles with mental illness In the top right there are people happy to be together, representing the lack of support and social interaction carers often have.
