Carers need and deserve support too - and there are great services available to help you while you're helping others!
Carer Gateway, an Australian Government Initiative, is a free service dedicated to supporting Australia’s 2.65 million carers.
The innovative program supports anyone who is an unpaid carer and looking after someone with a disability, mental illness, a medical condition (including terminal or chronic illness) or someone who is frail because they are aged.
The caring role needs to be ongoing for six months or more.
Carer Gateway provides carers with access to:
· practical information and advice
· services and supports
· free counselling, respite and coaching
services
· tailored support packages
· other carers in similar caring roles to
connect with
You don’t need to be a new carer to use Carer Gateway services – any carer can use the services at any time in their caring journey.
