SUIT UP When it comes to getting suited and booted, it’s never been easier to walk into your nearest shopping centre and get a decently priced suit off the rack last minute. But for those who want to go the extra mile and leave a lasting impression, tailor made suits are having a bit of a comeback in Britain. British gentlemen are known worldwide for their classic polished style. Just look at a series like Peaky Blinders or the ultimate in style, 007 himself. This country has a long history with successful men leading by design, literally, f rom f ictional on-screen characters to prime ministers and kings since the height of the British Empire. Now that sense of durability and exclusivity is undergoing a renaissance, weaving its f ibres into CBD. Editor Róisín Delaney talks all things bespoke with Tom Smith, director at Tailored Wellbeing, the man behind the CBD range inspired by a Tom and his Bradford based team believe a custom suit is “the modern-day suit of armour.” It’s timeless and world-famous. It’s hard to argue against that when you look at the level of detail and the layers of work that go into custom made garments. Tom says this is just one element of inspiration that has gone into creating Tailored CBD. passion for fi ne tailoring. “We have always worn tailored suits for business as we believe these are the modern day suit of armour. They are authentic, timeless and you can wear one to pretty much any occasion and they just seem to fi t. It was for these very reasons why we’ve always worn tailored suits, and not just suits off a peg. A tailored suit is a true refl ection of one’s unique personality and character and these traits are what we have tried to encapsulate in all of our products,” Tom says. It might not be the outer fabric that makes a suit unique. If you were to put a high street bargain next to a custom made three-piece, you could see the obvious differences. But Tom believes that when you combine the lining, the pocket angles, the colour of the buttons and all of the things which make a tailored suit unique, the same terminology can be applied to creating a brand: “That’s what we’ve done with our CBD range. The packaging, fl avours and terpene profi le, we’ve made everything the way we would a tailored suit. Every single bottle that leaves our facility is unique.” Tailored CBD was almost a different kind of company, as the name dates back to a previous brand idea at Tailored Wellbeing photographed at Michelsberg Tailoring, Leeds. 34
