HE man boxing
aficionados call ‘The
Assassin’ and who rose
from the bottom of the pit to
the top of his game is retiring.
Queensland-based
International Boxing
Organisation (IBO) world
super-featherweight champion
Jack Asis has announced his
retirement from professional
boxing.
“This decision was not an easy
one,” pinoz Asis said. “But in my
heart I know is what is best for
me and my family.
“I’ve had a great career and I’m
very lucky my dreams did come
true.”
‘I want to spend
more time with my
young daughter’
In his last fight, Asis lost
his world title by unanimous
decision to South Africa’s
Malcolm Klassen in Port
Elizabeth, South Afrida.
He finished with a record of
59 bouts for 35 wins (18 by
knockout), 19 losses (6 by
knockout), and 5 draws.
Along the way, Asis collected
not only the IBO world super-
featherweight title but
also the Australia superlightweight, Australian
lightweight, and the Philippine
featherweight titles.
“Jack has nothing left
to prove,” said manager
Brendon Smith.
Asis said he no regrets
about his decision to retire
from boxing. “Now that my
career is over I have more
time with family,” he said.
"My daughter is six years
old this year; she has
sacrificed so much with me
being away chasing my
dream now it's time for me to
spend more with her. ” n
