Floriade opens spring
season in the Capital
FLORIADE is Australia’s biggest annual celebra-
tion of spring. The flower festival, held in Can-
berra from Saturday, September 16 to Sunday,
October 15, 2017 attracts thousands of people
from around the world.
This year, Floriade celebrates its 30th birth-
day, showcasing more than a million bulbs and
annuals planted across 8,000 square metres of
Canberra’s inner-city parkland.
Its theme features “rejuvenation” symbolising
renewal and vitality of beautiful floral displays

from past festival designs. There is so much to
see and do this year, and many activities for the
children.
There are stunning displays of sculptures and
installations from local and international artists, a
program full of garden and produce, workshops,
activities, music, entertainment and most of all,
delicious food.
Relaxing by the lakeside, listening to traditional
Filipino music by Canberra’s Filipino rondalla,
Rondanihan, just cannot get any better. n
