Striking the right chord with
Wiltshire Music Centre
The Wiltshire Music Centre opened its doors with
a gala event after an interior refurbishment by
another Wiltshire business, Elm Workspace.
The Grand opening of the regenerated
Wiltshire Music Centre took place last
month, marking the completion of a
four-month project.
The Wiltshire Music Centre offers an
abundance of audible and visual delights
for the local community, often drawing
national and international performers to
entertain and delight audiences of all ages.
However, after 16 years and thousands
of visitors and performances, the Centre
needed revitalising.
Elm Workspace who are headquartered
in Calne were asked to modernise the
foyer, creating a striking yet practical area
that would mirror the diverse creativity
radiating from within the 300-seat
concert hall.
As well as project managing the
refurbishment, Elm were tasked with
re-plastering, re-carpeting and fitting new
lighting, all the while liaising with contractors
who were simultaneously working on an
extension to the Music Centre.
The foyer’s new furniture was under
the jurisdiction of Burtt-Jones & Brewer,
design partner of Wiltshire Music Centre,
who selected the perfect accompaniments
for one of the most successful small-scale
regional arts lottery projects in the UK.
The installation of a new lighting
structure, designed by world famous British
artist, Bruce Munro, also had to be taken
into consideration. Elm worked closely
with the design installation team, ensuring
every meticulous detail was fine-tuned to
perfection.
The result of the four-month project
speaks volumes; the foyer has been
transformed into a symphony of practicality
and stunning aesthetics, giving the
Wiltshire Music Centre and proud locals
alike, something to really sing about.
