CONTENTS NOTE FROM THE EDITOR INSIDE THIS EDITION May was an exceptionally busy month for TBE being closely involved with Bath In Fashion and the Business Show Swindon. On Friday 9 May TBE hosted a Business of Fashion event at The Porter in Bath for budding designers and fashionistas. Around 50 attendees flocked to the event to gleam tips and advise from a panel of experts on business in the fashion industry. The highly credible panel included Graeme Fearon, a leading specialist in intellectual property and partner at Thrings law, Jan Miller, business development consultant for the Centre for Fashion Enterprise and Andrew Cater, joint owner/ director of the Liz Cox brand. The topics ranged widely from trademarking designs and resourcing, to internet marketing and financial backing. The event was highly received and people are already asking if we are looking to host a similar workshop as part of the Bath In Fashion calendar next year. Watch this space! TBE also had a very successful day on Thursday 15 May at the Business Show Swindon. We enjoyed meeting with new business contacts and catching up with others we’ve had long term relationships with. On the day we ran a stand prize to win a boardroom meeting and lunch at The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath for up to 15 people. Our lucky winner was Sharon Omer-Kaye of Baker Tilly. Congratulations! Don’t forget TBE is a business magazine with a difference. We look to you to tell us what you want from your magazine. Wiltshire Towns: Swindon & Malmesbury Swindon Swindon is becoming an increasingly popular destination for business with some major projects in the pipeline such as the electrification of the mainline railway between Paddington and Cardiff shortening journey times to London to just 45 minutes which can only heighten the towns popularity. Home to Nationwide, Honda and RWE to mention but a few, Swindon THE BUSINESS EXCHANGE KEY STATISTICS Readership: 15,000 Circulation: 5,000 is a serious place to do business. In this edition we look at the redevelopment of the town centre and rising business stars in the town. Malmesbury Malmesbury has traditionally been a market town serving the rural area of north west Wiltshire, with farming being the main industry. However with its foot firmly in the 21st Century Malmesbury is home to one of the UK’s most prominent businesses - Dyson employing over 1,600 people. The town is also home to many independent businesses looking to shape the future of the town. TBE will profile some of the towns most interesting companies and find out their plans for the future.
