NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
INSIDE THIS EDITION
June has been a celebratory month for
Swindon and Wiltshire with lots of positive
news for business.
At the end of June The Centre for Cities
released their annual Small Business Outlook
report, showing how small businesses are
performing in cities across the country.
The report shows that in Swindon small
businesses are performing extremely well,
investing for growth and innovation and
building their workforce. Swindon was listed
4th in the UK for fuelling economic recovery.
This is such encouraging news and will
hopefully inspire more start-ups in the area.
The Swindon & Wiltshire LEP (SWLEP)
also announced plans this month to develop
Swindon and Wiltshire into a vibrant and
innovative manufacturing centre based on
high-growth areas such as renewable energy
and waste, sustainable materials and biosciences. The ‘2026’ vision is for a thriving
economy based on exploiting the areas
strong military presence and developing small
and medium enterprises (SMEs) so they can
respond quickly to developing opportunities.
Turn to page 18 to find out more about
the SWLEP’s plans as this month we interview
the new Chairman, Barry Dennington.
In September TBE will be celebrating our
first year in business. To mark this occasion
we are reaching out to other companies
in the county that are touching the same
milestone. We want to hear your journey
and business successes so far. We will also
be supporting new start-up’s with a special
feature offering top tips and advice from
