Mette based in the Glove Factory Studios in Holt,
Wiltshire has been appointed to design and create a
principal installation at 100% Design 2014.
100% Design is the UK’s largest contemporary design
trade event and has formed a cornerstone of the
international design scene over the last twenty years.
The event is widely recognised for its significant part in
establishing London as the design capital of the world.
Mette has been commissioned to create
four dedicated inspiration hubs which
explore issues, trends and ideas for each
industry sector across interiors, workplace,
kitchen and bathroom and eco design
and build.
The 81sqm installation takes the form
of a central inspiration, social and seminar
space with demonstrations and talks
from leading designers, will explore the
resurgence of the designer-maker and the
increasing mix of craft and technology
in the future of contemporary product
design. The concept has been aptly named
‘The Maker Carousel’.
“As a multidisciplinary studio
continually striving to develop new
concepts and engaging experiences
across brands, products and interiors,
we are excited to develop this year’s
theme, as not only does it position us at
the forefront of industry developments,
it resonates deeply with our journey as
designer-makers ourselves,” says Caroline
Santos, Creative Director, Mette.
Each year the highly-coveted
feature commissions are awarded to
emerging and established studios which
demonstrate a uniquely conceptual,
innovative and forward-thinking approach
to design. 2014 marks Mette’s second
year of receiving this accolade from

the world-class event. Mette’s 2013
commission, the ‘Farm Kitchen’ sponsored
by Gaggenau, explored the integration
of microagriculture into interior design.
Mette’s installation achieved international
recognition in leading design publications
as well as being named as one of Icon
Magazine’s three ‘Highlights of the Show’.
“We are so proud to have made such
a strong impact last year that Media 10
has once again invited our growing studio
to work alongside the great names of
the design world,” continues Caroline.

opportunity for us to raise our profile
to an international design audience,
and to have been asked to return in
2014 confirms that we offer a notable
contribution to this globally-respected
show and spark meaningful ideas and
conversation within the design industry
