Three Wiltshire businesses receive King’ s Award for International Trade

17 businesses across the South West, including three from Wiltshire, have been announced as recipients of The King’ s Award for Enterprise.
Leafield Environmental, Clarendon Specialty Fasteners and The Tracklement Company have all been recognised as playing a key role in the Government’ s mission for economic growth. All three were awarded the honour in the International Trade category.
The King’ s Awards, now in their third year, celebrate the achievements of leading businesses from across the UK. This year, 197 companies representing a diverse range of sectors, have been recognised by His Majesty The King as among the best in the country, highlighting the ambition, ingenuity and success of our business community.
Employing 42 people, Leafield Environmental was founded in 2010 and is based in Corsham. The company designs and manufactures premium recycling and litter bins, agricultural products, materials-handling products and highway street furniture.
Managing Director Philip Maddox said,“ We are delighted to have achieved a King’ s Award for Enterprise. Leafield Environmental’ s products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality by dedicated teams at our factory in Corsham, Wiltshire, and sold to the world – all through the hard work of people who live locally and have worked at the company for many years.
“ It’ s especially exciting to be recognised for our excellence in international trade. Despite a challenging manufacturing landscape, Leafield’ s overseas sales have grown by 63 % over three years and now make up almost half of our total sales.“ I look forward to the opportunities the King’ s Award will offer in expanding the reach of our quality, sustainable products to markets across the globe.”
Clarendon Specialty Fasteners is a leading manufacturer and exporter of Aerospace-grade fasteners and components, based in Royal Wootton Bassett.
Managing Director Paul Sanders said,“ It is with profound humility and deep gratitude that we as a business have been honoured with the prestigious King’ s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.
“ It is again a testament to the unwavering commitment, resilience, and brilliance of an extraordinary team of individuals. This is the second time that we have been awarded this honour [ which is ] highly regarded as the most coveted commercial award in business achievement.
“ To receive this honour from the Crown is a moment we should cherish forever and take the opportunity to also celebrate this success. It reminds us all that when purpose meets collaboration on all levels, there is no limit to what can be achieved.
“ We accept it with pride, with gratification and with a renewed commitment to continue striving for excellence in everything we do.”
Based in Malmesbury, Tracklements manufactures a range of handcrafted, award-winning condiments.
Managing Director Guy Tullberg said,“ This is an outstanding achievement for the entire team. Even in challenging times for international trade, there remains real opportunity for growth- especially for sustainable products that are well-made, full of integrity, and, above all, delicious. Good quality always finds a way to cross borders! Being recognised with a King’ s Award for Enterprise in International Trade is a testament to our dedication and the exemplary standard that defines Tracklements.”
“ Tracklements started when we made the UK’ s first wholegrain mustard back in 1970 when the UK food scene was quite different – you could only buy olive oil in the chemist for cleaning out your ears, for example. From that first, we had a plethora of others, slowly changing the UK condiments scene; Tracklements introduced Chilli Jam, Onion Marmalade and savoury jellies to the UK market. It’ s really great to see our range of best-quality, best-tasting condiments being increasingly available to more shoppers, in more countries- we’ re thrilled.”
The King’ s Awards for Enterprise were previously known as The Queen’ s Awards for Enterprise and were renamed two years ago to reflect His Majesty The King’ s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Award programme, now in its 59th year, has awarded over 8,000 companies since its inception in 1965.
His Majesty’ s Lord Lieutenants – The King’ s representatives in each county – will be presenting the Awards to businesses locally throughout the year. One representative from each winning business will also be invited to a special Royal reception event.
“ Leafield Environmental’ s products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality by dedicated teams at our factory in Corsham and sold to the world – all through the hard work of people who live locally and have worked at the company for many years.”
