2022 has been another exceptional year both at home and on a world stage and The Business Exchange has been at the forefront of local reaction as events have unfolded . In February , almost overnight , the outbreak of war in Ukraine had a significant impact on the UK and worldwide economy - as well as our minds and hearts . Our planned feature for the April / May issue was ESG – Environmental , Social and Governance and I didn ’ t know how relevant the topic would be when I came to put the magazine together . Our front cover featured a landscape scene of the countryside between Tilshead and Lavington . A sea of yellow rapeseed with a deep blue sky – a subtle nod of support to our friends in Ukraine , as well as the importance of nature . In this edition we gifted advertising space to the Hope and

Homes for Children Ukraine Appeal and regular contributor , John Davies , delivered a poignant message about the crisis in his Is it me ? column .
Throughout the spring and summer months there seemed to be a real sense of getting back to it post-Covid with the community desperate to connect and rekindle relationships . We saw numbers return to pre-pandemic figures at our Big Breakfast events and The Business Exchange South West Charity Conference and Expo in May broke previous records with over 600 sign ups and 50 exhibitors .
As we had just started to get back to it after the summer holidays , the news broke that our beloved Queen had passed away . We became a nation in mourning and I gathered tributes from our local business community about what her Majesty the Queen meant to them and the impact she had on their lives .

As I write this , I can ’ t quite believe what a year it has been but despite it all , our business community has continued to push on , survive and thrive . It has been a pleasure to produce this special ‘ Business Review of the Year ’ issue . These pages are packed with positivity and hope and I continue to be so proud to be part of this community .
