Lauren Read Asks : What is the best way to maximise employee wellbeing ? I ’ ve been waiting for this one Lauren , what a brilliant question …
There are many ways to maximise your employee wellbeing , you can reduce work hours , give regular praise , and offer fun rewards to your team . These are all incredibly important and effective ways to improve wellbeing and have been used by employers for decades but the answer to your question , Lauren , was only added to the Oxford Dictionary three months ago . It starts with ‘ H ’ and ends in ‘ ybrid working ’.
Unless you ’ ve had your head in a hole for the past year or so , you ’ ll have heard of hybrid working - it is a type of flexible working that allows employees to split their work time between different locations , usually their workplace and their home . And mark my words , it is the future . It is the answer to not only improving employee wellbeing , but so many more common workplace problems . It allows employees to have more freedom , and work in a way that works for them . Plus , it massively benefits work-life balance due to the cut of the commute .
If you know me , you ’ ll know I ’ m not one to recommend something unless I ' m totally sure that it works , spoiler alert : it does . Not to toot my own horn , but I was one of the first semi-adopters . Since I started my business , I ’ ve always encouraged my team to split their time between home working and office . The truth is , my team can be more productive when working from home . For a start , they don ’ t have one of the biggest distractions ( AKA me ) nattering on all day , and they can really focus on tasks that need extra care and attention . Ten years later and I ’ m still a huge advocate for hybrid working , our small but strong team now stretches across 2000 miles . Hybrid working has transformed the workplace and the way me and my employees work as a team forever . We are more productive , more motivated and more in harmony with each other . So Lauren , to put it simply ; the best way to maximise employee wellbeing is by introducing hybrid working to the workplace . See you next time . Alison and her team were recently selected as the faces of computer software giant Adobe ’ s ‘ Make it happen ’ international campaign , showcasing how organisations can make the most of hybrid working using its Adobe Acrobat product . Alison and Adobe partnered up to produce two videos and a fantastic e-book featuring Alison ’ s time management methodology – ‘ The Juggling Method ’ which some of you may know as Alison Edgar ’ s Big Balls . The Business Exchange even makes a cameo !

How does your business stand out ?

By sales expert Martin Baines of Martin Baines Learning Solutions
What differentiates your business from your competitors and makes customers want to buy from you ? You ’ ll be familiar with the adage ‘ people buy from people they know , like and trust ’; well , it is one I certainly believe . In the endless pursuit to win new customers and retain existing clients , what is it that is going to set you apart …?
Or do you think you stand out , yet you don ’ t really know , you ’ ve not really paid too much attention to your competitors and how they are performing ?
If your sales teams aren ’ t armed with the right knowledge , skills and behaviours and aren ’ t differentiating themselves in the way they take prospects through their buying journeys , then the only differentiator you have is PRICE .
Top organisations have a people development strategy in place , to recruit , develop and retain the right people . They understand that EXPERIENCE and excellent service are key to standing out and the best customers are prepared to pay a little more for that .
These companies understand that there are some people who will always walk a mile to save a penny on an ice cream – and they let that customer go elsewhere .
If you are a company that simply throws sales people in at the deep end when they join the business and doesn ’ t give them on-going support and development , then you will always be pushing water uphill and , more than likely , doing a lot of recruiting as well .
Elite sportsmen and women are always working on their game – they don ’ t just stop once they ’ ve entered the arena .
They train , they have coaches , they have physios , they have nutritionists and they are consistently looking for those small incremental gains that will give them the edge .
Tailored sales training and coaching can have the same effect for you – by identifying the areas where you can really make a difference and developing them so that you , your brand and your people will stand out from the herd .
Our bespoke training and coaching programmes support businesses like yours and ensure that the people you entrust to sell your products and services are empowered to deliver the results you want .
