As the economy gradually recovers from the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic , we have worked with S & G Global Market Intelligence to assess the latest financial data submitted to Companies House and bring you a definitive list of Wiltshire ’ s top businesses … The leading sectors that dominate the table are :

• Energy Market
• Finance
• Manufacturing

• Pharmaceutical
• Retail
A few key points from this year ’ s data :
• Malmesbury-based Dyson Technology has pinched the top spot from Intel Corporation , increasing revenue by two per cent while being down on profit by 16 per cent .
• Intel moves down to second place , seeing a drop in revenue of 11 per cent but an increase in profit of 31 per cent .
• Meanwhile , Nationwide has moved to third place , having increased its revenue and profit by 23 per cent and 69 per cent respectively .
• Npower comes in at fourth place – while its revenue dropped by 11 per cent from last year , it saw a significant profit increase of 73 per cent .
• The rest of the top ten includes Wincanton PLC , First Great Western , RWE Generation UK PLC and Smiths News PLC .
This is the first time that Honda has been absent from the list after the car manufacturer closed its Swindon plant last year . Despite this , Swindon remains the most economically active town or city in Wiltshire by a considerable margin , with eight out of the top ten companies being based there . Trowbridge is now in second place behind Swindon with nine companies in the top 100 , closely followed by Chippenham with eight and Devizes with six . Salisbury , Wiltshire ’ s only city , is also steadily climbing the rankings , now having 10 companies in the top 100 – up from six last year , and just three the year before that .
