CELEBRATING SUCCESSES OF 2021

GlamoRose Events

Another businesswoman who has seen business growth is Jenny Renard of GlamoRose Events , however it ’ s not been without some challenges .
Jenny worked with a small successful cupcake business , GlamoRose from 2019 . The founder ran a shop in Swindon ’ s Old Town , made the cakes and Jenny ran the events side of the business . In 2020 , those events stopped overnight . Undaunted Jenny worked with the founder and formed her own aligned business GlamoRose Events and became a licensee of the brand . She opened a shop in Chippenham that year and became a queen of deliveries .
“ In April 2021 I also began deliveries in the Chippenham area and then opened a shop in the town which grew slowly .
I love events so I also decided to buy a van which I could ‘ glam ’ up and take to events as they slowly started to come back onstream , particularly markets at first .”
Sadly , the shop in Chippenham had to close in October as the footfall , though growing , was not matching the predicted forecasts given to her when she took over the shop .
“ It was sad , but it was not sustainable for me to stay there when there was no flexibility around the rent . I could see growth , yet it was clear that it was not matching the targets I had , based on the initial information I ’ d been given .”
Jenny pressed ahead with deliveries and with branding up a GlamRose van . She converted the interior herself with her partner and the final touches were made this month .
“ I am already getting bookings for events , festivals and weddings , and I ’ m hoping that 2022 will see at least one more van on the road !”

Cabana Garden Rooms

Some businesses actually began in 2021 and one of those was Cabana Garden Rooms , which is based in Malmesbury and operating across the South West , M4 corridor and London . The company was set up by Lloyd Smith supported by his father Terry who is a property developer .
Lloyd said , “ The business officially started in June although through the property development side of the family portfolio we had already been creating and installing garden rooms for private clients who were looking to work from home due to the pandemic .
“ Cabana Garden Rooms came from clients wanting to create space to work from home , there were also clients who wanted a home bar or gym because Covid-19 has changed the way some look at public spaces .
Our friendly team consists of construction gurus , amazing trades people , happy sales and legal staff along with creative design experts .
“ There is a subtle irony in that Covid-19 sent our staff home from work and now we are helping people to work from home !”
Success , Lloyd says , this year is completing two full builds , with another five lined up ready to go .
“ Our original plan was to hit one unit a month in our first year so to be up to seven
sales since June means we are over the moon . Obviously , theses numbers may seem small however when you consider supply chain issues and state of the global economy this is no easy feat for a new brand .”
The plan for 2022 is to average two sales per month and improve the company website ’ s domain authority on Google , on the way to becoming become one of the leading and most trusted luxury garden room suppliers in the UK .

Britannia Coin Company

One amazing success story for 2021 has been around the growth of the Britannia Coin Company run by Jon White who also runs Old Bank Antiques in Royal Wootton Bassett .
Jon has been a coin expert for many years and has now consolidated that knowledge during 2020 to create a new company . The business has exploded during 2021 .
“ I ’ d always wanted a coin-focused company ,” Jon said . “ Coins can be both valuable and sentimental and it ’ s a market I know so well . Lockdown pushed me to do something about it and in September 2021 the Britannia Coin Company celebrated its first birthday .”
It ’ s been an astonishing year for Jon ’ s new company . He started with two employees and thanks to the company ' s popularity , now has 11 . He is currently recruiting for a further three staff members . Britannia Coin Company has its own marketing team including a YouTube expert , a professional photographer and specialist content writers .
Jon added , “ The company has been so successful that when it was disclosed that the Co-op next to Old Bank Antiques was going and no similar business was interested in taking the place , I was able to buy the building as an outright cash purchase . It ’ s so exciting for us all to be able to develop and in a year or so , open a new , fit for the future , auction house next door ."
