How to make your space work for you

The pandemic has forced many of us who’ ve never worked from home before to find a space – in some cases any space, be it a spare room, under the stairs, a spare corner, or just the kitchen table. Some of you may have a home office which was previously used sporadically, but now you’ re in it all the time it could do with improvement. Here are just a few ideas from our product range.
Getting comfy
What you sit on is one of the most important considerations wherever you work. Bad posture can cause lasting damage from sore backs to painful necks. Our top tips for choosing and setting up your chair are:
1. Staying grounded – Ideally, you want your feet to sit flat on the ground. It’ s all about the height. Most chairs are built for the average person, so if you’ re taller or shorter than the average it’ s likely that you need to find a chair that can be adjusted to suit you.
2. Support – Finding a chair that supports the nook of your back or lumbar spine can make working for long periods at a desk much more comfortable.
3. Fabric – Plastic, leather, cloth or pleather? It’ s important to find something you like and what is practical for you.
4. Flooring it – The chances are that you’ re going to be buying a chair that’ s on casters, and your floor can make a big difference in how well the chair can roll. You won’ t be zipping around your room if your chair is on the carpet.
5. Arms and Headrests – Make sure that your arms are supported and are at about the same height as your keyboard. Good chairs have adjusters to help find you the right position.
Pack it away
Investing in a storage solution that’ s right for your space can be a game changer. You don’ t want to see reminders of work when you’ re trying to relax. Having a filing cabinet or set of drawers by the side of your desk to hide everything away in can help you to retain a minimalist space and a feeling that everything is packed away and you’ ve left the office.
