SWINDON AND WILTSHIRE’S CREATIVES
The singer
Jodie Evans, also known as the One and Only Adele Tribute by Jodie
Evans – based in Wiltshire performing nationwide. Jodie created this
business in 2016 however she’s been performing for more than 15
years. She has an Adele tribute show performing the hits from albums
19, 21 and 25 including the hits Hello, Rolling in the Deep, Hometown
Glory, Skyfall, Someone Like You, Set Fire to the Rain and many more
from the Grammy Award winner. She can create a non-Adele set list to
suit a client’s needs.
Are you creative?
Yes. I’m aware I am not the only Adele
tribute act in the entertainment business,
therefore my business/show needs to
have variety and needs to offer new
ideas. Personally, my creativity comes
from thinking, planning and a wealth of
experiences.
If something doesn’t work out, I don’t
identify it as a failure. I look for new
ways to learn, grow and move forward.
Secondly, I don’t wait for opportunities I
create them. Stagnation is something that
doesn’t work for me.
Being creative involves having the ability
to see new perspectives and solving an old
problem in a new way. Above all, I believe
being creative means finding inspiration
in the dullest of places. If you encourage
yourself to look at the mundane things in
a new way, you’ll never be bored.
How do you ‘sell’ your creativity?
Rehearse! I must know my act from the
inside out! I must be knowledgeable
about my act or direction and have the
confidence to perform to the best of my
ability.
I have a positive attitude and think that
everyone you approach in your career
will be interested in your product/show/
you if you radiate positivity. You must be
prepared to receive a lot of ‘nos’ and know
eventually you will get a ‘yes’.
Learn to sell yourself: talent needs to
be marketed as well. This can be done
with website and social media feeds in
order to gain an audience. The more
people know of you and your talents,
the more you can sell. The larger your
audience the more attractive you are as a
‘product’.
What’s the future for creative
businesses in your view?
Very positive. Businesses today operate in
a highly competitive, global environment
making creativity crucial. Creativity fuels
big ideas, challenges thinking and opens
doors to new opportunities. Creativity and
innovation are often used interchangeably
yet are two different concepts.
Innovation isn’t just one thing, there
are lots of factors that go into realising an
innovation whereas creativity is different
because creativity is a mechanism to
being innovative. You can have great
thoughts yet not be innovative. Creativity
can give businesses a competitive edge
whilst creativity industries can boast
faster job growth and slower job loss than
other sectors in the economy.
Are you clearly communicating how
your business makes a difference?
