PROMOTIONS SWEEP THROUGH THRINGS Top 100 law firm Thrings has appointed three Partners, a Legal Director, six Associates and eight Senior Associates as part of its largest-ever round of promotions. Planning expert Ros Trotman and Agricultural Litigator Robert James have become Partners. Ros, who acts for clients on the planning aspects of urban development schemes, residential and mixed- use developments, is the current chairman of Women in Property South West. She was also recently named one of the region’s most powerful people in property. Robert specialises in dispute resolution and has significant experience of advising on a wide range of high value and complex disputes, predominately for clients within the agricultural sector. In addition, Property Finance Specialist Karen Whitburn and Conveyancing Executive Matthew Uncle – who are not based in the South West – have been promoted to the roles of Partner and Legal Director respectively. Elsewhere, four South West- based members of Thrings’ Real Estate team – Naomi Butler, Rebecca Dixon, Charlotte Dooling and Dan Langan – are promoted to the newly-created position of Senior Associate, as is Brett Lambe (Corporate and Commercial), Emily Prout (Dispute Resolution) and Natalie Ward (Employment). Fred Quartermain (Agricultural 8 www.tbeswindonandwilts.co.uk Planning), Caitlin Mills (Australian qualified), Beth Paja and Rebecca Whiting (all Real Estate) complete the series of South-West promotions by becoming Associates. The other non-South West promotions are Emily Harvey (Agriculture) appointed to Senior Associate and Bonnie Ward (CILEx) and Carol Ward (Secession and Tax) who have both become Associates. The 18 newly promoted legal experts – who will work with colleagues in Thrings’ offices in Bristol, Bath, London, Swindon and Romsey – represent a continued commitment to growth by the firm. Simon Holdsworth, Managing Partner of Thrings, said, “Career progression remains integral to Thrings’ future growth and success, and a key component of our strategy is to ensure the right career structures and frameworks are in place. Doing this enables us to drive standards of performance and nurture and retain talent so our experts are well-placed to provide specialist legal advice to new and existing clients at all times.” He explained that while these promotions are an illustration of that strategy, they also “reinforce the firm’s commitment to organic growth.” Hollie, who obtained a first-class law degree and completed the Legal Practice Course in Bristol at the University of Law, is beginning her training contract in the firm’s Family Department. Alongside Hollie, Natasha has also begun her training contract in the Goughs Family department. She has experience in the Family Courts and a passion for assisting clients with their domestic needs. Louis is beginning his training contract working in the Goughs Private Client Department in Calne. During his three years at Southampton Solent University, Louis opened and ran the Solent Law Clinic, which allowed his peers to gain legal work experience by offering free legal advice to students. Goughs has also boosted its litigation team with the appointment of Elizabeth Stiddard as a Trainee Litigator. Prior to this, Elizabeth spent over two years working as a Litigation Assistant for Bonallack & Bishop Solicitors. Victoria Nash, HR Director of Goughs, said, “We’re delighted to have appointed four talented, enthusiastic individuals as they embrace the next stage of their legal careers. Our trainees are an integral part of our long- term success and our training programme provides them with a strong foundation on which to build a career in the legal profession.” Recently, two of Goughs other trainees - Karling Lau and Rochelle Graham - qualified as Solicitors. The firm has six offices throughout Wiltshire, with more than 40 lawyers offering a full spectrum of legal advice.
