POSITIVE BUSINESS Could you be a trustee for Prospect Hospice? Prospect Hospice has been providing end- of-life care to people with life-limiting or terminal illness in Swindon and north east Wiltshire for nearly 40 years. Join us as a Chair of our Trustee board “I’ve been lucky enough to sit alongside talented volunteers and inspirational staff...” Mandy Casavant Local solicitor and Prospect Hospice Trustee They help people cope with everything that this would affect including their physical, emotional and social needs. Prospect Hospice prides itself on the clinical services that do this, but also the non-clinical services including reaching out to families and carers. The charity is undergoing a time of positive change and is currently recruiting a Chair of their trustee board. The board of trustees is responsible for the management and administration of the charity. “Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They help to make the UK the sixth-most giving country in the world. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity’s work.” (Trustee Week 2018) The role is suitable for someone with proven leadership skills to guide Prospect Hospice and its board to achieve its aims and priorities. Someone with experience of chairing meetings and managing a board or similar group, would be ideal. David Barrand, Vice Chair, Prospect Hospice said, “I have been on the Prospect Hospice Board of Trustees for 8 years and I am continually impressed by the professional yet caring environment that Prospect Hospice provides. I’ve had a number of close friends and relatives who have benefited from the care there, so being Vice Chair is a great way for me, as a local resident to give back to my local hospice and community. By joining us as Chair of our Board you will enable us to develop as an organisation and continue to improve our services. “We’re looking for someone who has strong leadership skills, but also someone who is keen to learn about our hospice and has the confidence to lead a board of trustee’s with a wide array of skills and experience”. The charity is seeking a headline sponsor for the event which includes live entertainment, a three-course meal, charity auction and a raffle. Piers Linney is the event’s guest speaker. He added, “To have the opportunity to hear such inspirational stories from young people having overcome their own challenges to succeed is brilliant, and I think it’s a great thing to bring local businesses together to recognise these individuals.” To purchase tickets to the event, visit the Inner Flame website.
