CREATIVE THINKING
Consistent and regular story-telling
is the key to being seen, heard and
taken seriously in business
by Fiona Scott
Are you a business owner who is frustrated too few
people know who you are or what your company does?
Have you considered strategic and sustained
public relations as part of your marketing
mix?
Often in business, I encounter business
owners, those who work for charities or
social enterprises or those who work in a
marketing role who want their organisations
to be more visible.
However they tend to have little clue how
to achieve it or of how to make sales as a
result of a higher profile.
Many want instant results and they are
seeking a ‘marketing magic bullet’ which will
hit the spot, make them quickly successful
and they can achieve their goals almost
overnight – often for little investment.
If you are a ‘magic bullet type’ feel free to
move on now.
If you are more realistic around building
a business and making smart decisions
around public relations –my How To Get Into
The Media workshop may be of interest.
My next event takes place on Wednesday
May 15 in Chippenham and is an affordable
way of starting on that journey alongside
like-minded people. This is not an event
where I will be quacking from the front for
hours – it’s highly interactive where you will
walk away with tangible tips which you can
take action on immediately.
Backed by 30 years’ experience in the
media and 11 years of running my own
agency, I will help you understand what good
PR looks like and will work with you - in
small groups - to create an initial story plan
relevant to your business or organisation and
its people.
This course is designed for individuals,
start-up businesses, charities or any third
sector organisation, or small business which
have not embraced PR and want to do so
effectively or who just want to find out more
so they know what great PR looks like - and
how much effort it actually takes.
Areas covered will include: what is PR?
What makes a good story? What makes a
bad story? The cost per head is £55 for early
bird bookings rising to £65. To book please

One final note – as with any training
course – if you don’t take action following
this event, nothing will happen!
“I will help you understand
what good PR looks like and
will work with you - in small
groups - to create an initial
story plan relevant to your
business or organisation and
its people.”

JAZZBONES HELPS
KIDS STAY SAFE ONLINE
Jazzbones Creative has completed a project
with Vodafone’s internet safety partner Parent
Zone to create new content to help children
stay safe online.
The Swindon-based agency
was tasked with the creation of
a digital storybook for children
designed to promote the safe
use of smartphones, tablets and
other devices.
Throughout the project
Jazzbones Creative worked
closely with Parent Zone which
helps families to navigate the
internet safely by providing
information to parents, children
and schools.
Parent Zone is backed by
The Vodafone Foundation which
supports projects focused on
delivering public benefit through
the use of mobile technology.
Together the organisations
produce Digital Parenting
magazine, an online safety guide
for families distributed through
schools and youth clubs.
Impressed by Jazzbone
Creative’s track record of
working in the not-for-profit
sector, Vodafone and Parent
Zone asked the agency to create
two digital storybooks, one for
Key Stage One and the other for
Key Stage Two of the National
Curriculum.
Tommy the Tablet and Sally
the Smartphone are the stars of
two stories that will capture the
imagination of schoolchildren and
help them to stay safe online.
The storybooks are also being
distributed across Europe in
eight different languages.
“We really love working
with charities to bring
about change for good,
so if these books can
help young children with
internet safety then that
is just brilliant.”
Nathan Sandhu, Jazzbones’
Founder and Creative Director,
said, “This has been a fantastic
project to be involved in on so
many levels. Firstly, we were
appointed to the project after
pitching against London-based
agencies and illustrators and
our 3D work stood out to win us
the pitch which makes the whole
team really proud.”
“Secondly, we really love
working with charities to bring
about change for good, so if
these books can help young
children with internet safety then
that is just brilliant. We were
really excited to see the books
launched across Europe on Safer
Internet Day 2019”.
Jazzbones’ in-house CGI
illustrators created more than
30 eye-catching illustrations
in a kaleidoscope of colours to
accompany the characters as
they navigate their way through
the challenges and adventures of
smartphone technology.
As part of the launch on Safer
Internet Day 2019 on Tuesday
5th February, Jazzbones also
delivered a wide range of
marketing collateral including
videos and augmented reality
animations.
