POSITIVE BUSINESS Support Inner Flame’s 2019 Young Champions 2018 marked ten years of success for Swindon-based charity Inner Flame in its mission to help disadvantaged young people (aged 16-25) achieve their potential. To celebrate, their annual Young Champions evening in April was made extra special by the presence of inspirational guest speakers, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, the self-taught Olympic ski jumper, and Paralympian, Stephanie Millward. On the night six young people who participated in Inner Flame courses and achieved great things were recognised for their success by receiving awards. Inner Flame CEO, Gail McKay said: “We wanted to ensure that this event was extra special to thank those that have supported us for the past ten years, and to invite people to join us in our work over the next.” Inner Flame’s Young Champions evening made such an impact on Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, he has since become a patron for the charity and will be speaking again at the 2019 event. Young Champions 2019 will take place on Friday April 26, 2019 at Swindon’s DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. Inner Flame is now actively seeking Inner Flame’s Young Champions 2018 event sponsors and donors for 2019, as well as selling tables for this one-off event. Olympian Greg Rutherford, the British gold medalist who shot to fame at the London 2012 Olympic Games will be taking to the stage on the night to tell his story. There will also be live music, a three course meal and a charity raffle and auction. Tickets are priced at £50 if you commit to a table of ten and other special packages are available. FUNDRAISING GOLF DAY IS WELL ABOVE PAR CMD Recruitment recently held a charity golf day in support of The Devizes Opportunity Centre, raising over £7,000 - more than double their £2,500 target. The fundraiser was held at Cumberwell Park in Bradford on Avon and was supported by many local businesses including The Gourmet Brownie Kitchen who kept the golfers well fed and Wadworth Brewery who donated a keg to keep the teams going as they made their way around the course. Local firms MJ Church, Herman Miller, Dick Lovett, Stackhouse Poland, Gaigers, SWBF, Vodafone, TH White, Cooper Tyres and Hawker Joinery all took part to boost funds for the cause. The specialist team offers play activities designed to target specific area of development including physiotherapy and support wit speech and language development. Charlie Collier, business development manager at CMD said: “The whole point of the day was to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity that relies on donations from the public. Lots of effort went in to making the day a memorable one and I can’t thank everyone enough for their efforts – from my colleagues to the people and companies that donated. A special thank you to all our guests that dug deep and donated lots of money through our raffle and auction. The day was such a success that we may have to do another one next year – watch this space!” Debbie Lambert, manager at Devizes Opportunity Centre added: “We are so grateful to CMD for arranging the golf day. The phenomenal amount raised will help our children and families so much and will ensure we can continue to provide essential interventions and strategies for children with additional needs who are already facing so many challenges within their daily lives. The support of the local community is overwhelming and the support that CMD gained from local businesses and individuals in order for the day to be as successful as it was is incredible. On behalf of the committee, staff, children and parents we would like to say a huge thank you to all those who were involved. Your generosity will ensure we are able to continue opening our doors to these families.” Book your next meeting or event with us Did you know that Wiltshire Council has an extensive range of conference, meeting rooms and event spaces available across the county designed to meet your business needs?
