The Business Exchange Swindon & Wiltshire Edition 40: Dec/Jan 2018/19 | Page 3

CONTENTS NOTE FROM THE EDITOR INSIDE THIS EDITION 2018, what a year! At The Business Exchange we’ve celebrated five years in business, two years of our Bath & Somerset magazine and launched successful technology awards for Swindon & Wiltshire - The Techies. In my head it’s still June, the year has whizzed by so fast, but what a great year it’s been. The Business Exchange has grown its revenues by 25% in 2018 and is set to continue its growth journey in 2019 as we move into our sixth year, securing more partnerships to enhance our brand image. In the new year we will also be launching our new-look website for Swindon & Wiltshire- investing in the future of the business. 2019’s going to get off to an exciting start with the Chippenham Business Awards in February. I’m looking forward to supporting the awards as media partner and sitting on the judging panel. If you’re eligible (see page 4), get your entries in! The Techies will also be returning for its second year with entries opening in January- see page 5 for more. I can’t wait to build on the success of last year’s inaugural awards. In this issue we’re delighted to interview local celebrity Paul Martin (cover story), turn to page 25 to read our exclusive In Profile. I want to thank all of our advertisers and readers for your continued support in 2018. I wish you a very happy Christmas and a prosperous 2019. 4 BUSINESS NEWS A round-up of the top business news 8 APPOINTED Recent appointments made in Swindon and Wiltshire 10 FINANCE Local reaction to Chancellor’s Autumn Budget 12 LEGAL 10 Minutes with Bower & Bailey’s Lauren Webb 14 BUSINESS REVIEW OF THE YEAR Local firms give their sentiment of business in 2018 25 IN PROFILE Wiltshire TV presenter Paul Martin 26 CREATIVE THINKING The latest news from Wiltshire’s creative sector 29 JUICE RECRUITMENT CELEBRATES 20 YEARS Meet Emma Summers, founder of Juice Recruitment 30 REVVED UP Geoff Maxted reviews the new BMW 3 Series 35 TECHNOLOGY Is your business ready for a cyber attach every 14 seconds? 41 COMMERCIAL PROPERTY 2018 Swindon & Wiltshire commercial property review 46 CONNECT The key business shows to attend in 2019 ADVERTISE WITH US IN 2019 RAISING YOUR PROFILE WITH THE BUSINESS EXCHANGE Editor: Anita Jaynes E: [email protected] T: 01793 847 966 Special Features: Motoring: Fiona Scott www.fionascottmediaconsultancy.co.uk Geoff Maxted www.drivewrite.co.uk Are you planning your marketing strategy for the year ahead?
